Medium hair is that comfortable in-between style that captures the best
of both worlds. It is short enough to be less problematic and long enough
to maintain the feminine aura. And there's a lot more you can do with
the medium lengths that the short cuts may otherwise restrict.
The styles and variations are infinite, and this one length well matches
any color. Oddly enough, this was an improvement on earlier century
longer styles in both convenience and time-savings. When women had
servants and nothing to do but make themselves appealing and play the
clavier, longer hair was part of the costume of womanhood. The
shorter the hair the busier you were and with the coming of the
twentieth century and women's right to vote and work on an equal basis,
it was a choice between packing the tresses into protective hair
coverings or getting out the scissors. The event was usually emotional
and significant, representing a major change in one's life. It would
not usually take place before marriage as the hunt for partnership
usually meant long flowing hair. But with the chores and duties of
married life, it was simply a matter of necessity that the hair shortens
as the responsibilities lengthen.
